When I was a little girl, I loved to watch my mother tie her headwraps.

 

She would often hum as she got dressed. Her headwraps accentuated her regal bearing. She made it look effortless, but I later learned that for many women, wrapping a headwrap is anything but.

 

Welcome to Modaheadwraps — where heritage meets ease, and every woman gets to wear her crown with confidence.

 

I am Dr. Tolu Ojesina, affectionately known as Dr. Tee, founder of Modaheadwraps — a luxury fashion brand born out of love for African culture, a desire to empower Black women, and a practical frustration: traditional one-piece headwraps are often hard to tie, especially for the uninitiated.

 

That’s why I created Modaheadwraps — our signature two-piece, satin-lined, no-tie African print headwrap that can be styled in under one minute.

Yes, you read that right.

 

Each headwrap comes in two matching pieces: a bonnet that slips over your hair, and a strap that you simply wrap, tuck, twist, or knot to your liking.

At the heart of Modaheadwraps is the belief that every woman deserves to feel beautiful, rooted, and seen.

We exist to:

• Empower Black women to express their heritage unapologetically.
• Make African fashion accessible, elegant, and easy to wear.
• Uplift African seamstresses by creating jobs that honor their skill and craftsmanship.

 

Right now, we work with three talented seamstresses in Nigeria. They are not employees; they are business owners. Our goal is to support ten seamstresses by December 2026, offering them income and dignity in a society that often sidelines women.

“Moda” is an acronym from the names of my mother, father, husband and son.
